Sold into marriage and trapped in a brothel, Dipti found a way out and now her children are safe and in school.

Dipti was born in Bangladesh. War broke out, and the family fled to a refugee camp in India.  They left all that they had behind.

The family was once well off owning and cultivating their land, but in India, they had nothing. A man at the camp promised to help the family, but he took advantage of them.

Dipti was sold into marriage, and then her husband sold her to a brothel.

Now in a new country, and trapped in servitude, Dipti was all alone. She could not contact her family, even though she wanted to, because she had never learned to read or write.

Later Dipti remarried and had two children but found her husband to be an

alcoholic, and he would not work to support the family.  Around this time, one of Sister India’s classes was started in the brothel where she worked. Dipti was eager to join the classes and quickly picked up reading, writing, and simple arithmetic.

Dipti’s hope grew when she learned how to run a small business.  Suddenly, she realized that this class gave her a way to leave the brothel and provide support for her children!

Because of your support, Dipti has been able to leave the brothel, and she has left the oppressed life of sex trafficking.  She is living safely and can care for her children, who are now in school.

Thank you for your kindness to Dipti, and many others who have been trafficked.  You are giving them freedom.
